Video Poker + Perfect Play Trainer : Las Vegas ... App Reviews

I have played video poker at an expert level for many years, spending about $75 for practice software for my laptop. When I switched to MAC, I had to buy new software, which I never used because it never ran properly. For a fraction of that price, this app allows me to keep up my skills on my phone. My past experience is that bargain video poker software does not teach sound strategy. That is not true of this app. You can take the strategy corrections to the bank - literally. My biggest regret is that the game selection is rather small. There is no Deuces Wild, a game is a mainstay for serious players. Also, dont expect instruction regarding things such as how to analyze pay tables. Youll have to buy a good book to obtain that sort of information. But, this is a great practice tool. When I am visiting a casino that features a game that I have not played in a while, I can practice on the plane. And, its just a fun way to pass time. The app looks good, and is easy to use. If you learn just a couple of things from this app, it will pay for itself many times over on your next visit to the casino.

A lot of work went into this app, especially the statistical analysis. The app is very user friendly as well - you can play on casino odds, or vary it to the other end of the spectrum by playing big-win odds. The trainer is very effective - it applies sound behavioral techniques efficiently on such a small-scale environment. Theres also a "hand analysis" that lets you tap in an actual casino hand, and the app analyses the best moves. Very cool! I was so impressed that I bought Robert Suhs other apps as well: Bingo Classic and 4-hand Keno. Theyre all up to Roberts standards, though I really, really like the Video Poker ... but thats just me. Great job, Robert!

I love this game. Its like the ones in the casino. Rob who made up app is very nice and always responds to e-mail if your having any problems with your app. The game is well worth the money.

I almost didnt buy this because of the comments about the ads and gems. I have been playing continuously for about an hour. Stopped to shower and write this review... The only ad I have seen was when I first started the application. Thats unfortunate IMHO, but hardly anything to complain about. I am pretty easily irritated by ANY ads in a product I purchased, but this is minimal even by my standards. My guess is that if I quit the application, and restart that I will see the ad again. Again, I can deal with that. I am just happy the ads dont appear while playing. If at any point they do, I will regret this positive review. The gems were another reason I almost didnt buy. I thought that you had to purchase the gems to play certain games within the application. MY game is DD Bonus. It plays without buying or earning gems. I havent tried the other games, but my guess is that they will be the same. The only feature I want to unlock is the changing of the random number generator from the middle position to the "casino" generator. After playing for about an hour, I have "earned" 53 gems. Need to get to 100 to unlock the random number generator options. I can deal with that. If you want to play with this feature right out of the gate, you do have the option of paying $0.99. Given the cost of a small bag of fries at the local fast food, I can deal with that too, but am having fun figuring out the application and dont mind "earning" the gems. If it gets hard to get to 100, I will again regret this review, but I doubt it. While we are spoiled with VERY inexpensive applications for our iPads and iPhones, and this application is "much" more expensive than those other applications, I will say that this one is worth the money. Given how fast I put 20 dollar bills in the DD Bonus machines in Vegas, I believe that I will recover the expense very quickly as I am learning a few hands to hold that I was missing before. Regarding the performance and gameplay... The application is lightning fast and responsive. When I play on a real video poker machine, I favor swiping the cards so play on the iPad is like sitting in Vegas. Now if I can sit at the kitchen table and have my wife bring me drinks and blare the stereo, I may not notice the difference... Except for the money in and out... Paul

The game is a platform for further sales. In fact, after having paid $4.99, the game that is actually available is a hyped up extra odds so one gets extraordinarily good hands such as 4 of a kind, straight flushes etc. Completely out of whack. To get the casino version ( i.e., fair odds) one has to buy additional gems. Frequent in-game promos for other deals to buy more gems. Highly unprofessional.

I love this trainer. It has provided me with many hours of entertainment. It is also great for filling a few minutes at a time while waiting for various things. I only wish it had deuces wild variation also.

This is truly a great VP trainer for any serious player. The configurable options allow training for any casino pay tables. This has helped me build speed and confidence in my game. The selectable hand analyzer can be a life saver in the casino. At first the price for this app seemed a bit steep compared to others, but it has already paid for itself.

I have to say this is about the closet thing to the real thing. I find myself playing this for hours and really are enjoying this app. I would not hesitate to get this app. I highly recommedent it.

Okay, the game plays nicely. But the gems are stupid and just a way of extracting more money for an app that you already paid for. Beware, those who blindly use this game as a trainer. The DDB is 9/5, which is not the game a serious player would play (or learn on). Also, there is something annoying about it not dealing a fair game, but I am sure many people are fine with that. Were it a true trainer you would have the flexibility to modify paytables as needed. Also, the lack of DW and of the ability to configure games from scratch makes it weak. When compared with Winpoker, the gold standard, it just feels more like someone is trying to make a killing on a fairly simple app. If youre going to pay for the app get rid of the cheap money making tricks. Youre already making more off of it than Dancer probably made on Winpoker and it is an inferior product in several respects. Just move on to another game rather than trying to extract more dollars from your customers.

I purchased this for my wife who wanted a decent video poker game. Once she played she informed me that she had to pay an additional 5 bucks for credits. Over the years I have played 100s of different video poker games none of which ever forced you to pay extra money for play credits. Please do not buy this app as I consider this unethical on the Seller and Itunes for allowing such a rip off. It only starts you out with a 5 dollar credit which is only a few hands. Also note the playing tips work against you it really sets you up to lose your credits so you can be forced by more credits. If this App was free I would not be so upset and would have paid the 5 dollars for the credits but a total of 10 dollars for something that you may in the future have to dish out more dollars to play is just plain wrong.

This app is just like playing in a casino, and the perfect play feature is great. One question, though - if Im dealt an inside straight from 2 sides, (ie - 10, 9, 8, 6, 5) no matter which 4 cards I keep, it says its imperfect play (and ruins my streak for gems). But the %s for each are the same (10, 9, 8, 6 vs 9, 8, 6, 5). If there is truly a % difference, then please clarify what it is. If there isnt a difference, please dont mess up my gems!

Paid $4.99 for this app -- always crashes! Save your hard-earned dough and buy something else.

Love this app - however today when I wanted to play app opened to screen to play game -when I clicked on it app closed back to icons on my home screen - any ideas why? When I go back to app store to choose this app it says it is installed???? HELP!

Its fun to play if you can get the app to load up. Cant play the game. At this point the app is worthless complete ripoff! Youre welcome for taking my money. No more purchases from this developer.

I love this app. I play video poker often and this is so much like the real thing, well except for the obvious differences. Even has the sounds of a casino!! Lol. Great app.

You buy it and you get ads. ALL of his games are like this. I expect when I pay for a game to not have to deal with pop up ads.

First off, I put off buying this app because of all the complaints about buying more in app gems and tokens, etc. I searched everywhere for another app that looked like the one in the casino but couldnt find any. My Dad is a hard core gambler and he is near the end of his life and I wanted to bring the casino to him if he was unable to go himself. Double, double bonus poker is his favorite, so I bought this fully expecting to have to pay more once I was in. HOWEVER...... Maybe the programer changed things after so many people complained....I dont know. You DO NOT have to pay for more money. You start out with five dollars and can easily build that up. If you loose it you get another five right away. During normal play the trainer shows you the best moves and if you follow along with it the game starts to give you GEMS. Gems are used to open more options in game. You can buy gems if you want, but there is no need. I had over 100 the first day I played, then I opened more shuffle options in the game to make it easier or harder as needed. Once I did that I amassed over a million dollars on day two. For those of you wishing you could play the same video poker game on your new Retina display IPAd, then look no further. THIS is the same game!!!! I am very happy with it and so is my Father. He doesnt know computers so I set it up for easy win every now and then and just enjoy the way he smiles when he gets a four of a kind. He doesnt know I can control the win. All this for just 4.99 and of course a days worth of play. Disregard the other reviews about buying in game to continue to play. It isnt true......

I have one big thing i dislike about this app. It shuts down anytime you play music or a podcast. I would like to be able to listen to my music while i play. If you want to learn the right way to play video poker then get this app. It tells you when you hold the wrong cards and it plays very fast hands. Its $10, but if you play at the casino it will save you a lot more then that, not to mention the extra time you will have to get your free drinks. You will be surprised with how many times you hold the wrong cards. Ive tried all the free games, but the free version of this was my favorite because it looks just like the casino games, but the free version didnt give me enough training hand, so I decided to pay. Worth the money.
